DRUID Academy Conference 2015

The main emphasis is on PhD presentations. Each PhD student paper will be assigned to a “junior” (a fellow PhD student) and to a senior discussant (from DRUID faculty or invited guests). There will also be a series of keynote speakers in the program. The details of the program, titles of keynote presentations etc. will be continuously updated at the DRUID homepage.
We expect to be able to accept 65-70 PhD student presentations. If a greater number of abstracts are submitted, we will give priority to those that are in the middle part of their PhD. Limits on the number of students from each university should also be accepted. Please read the guidelines carefully before submitting.
We are inviting significant international scholars within this broad field to present their research. This year we have presentations from Maureen McKelvey (University of Gothenburg) and Maryann Feldman (University of North Carolina). Together with a large number of DRUID faculty members and invited discussants, they will comment and interact with participants.
The Bent Dalum PhD Award
DRUID has an award for the most promising research project presented at the DRUID Academy Conferences. The award is given in the memory of Bent Dalum (1946-2010), one of the main drivers of joint PhD education in Europe within the field of innovation studies. He was active from the very beginning of the ETIC and DIMETIC programs and was one of the founders of DRUID and the main organizer of the DRUID Winter Conferences (now DRUID Academy Conferences).
All doctoral students who wish to present a paper at the DRUID Academy 2015 Conference must submit an one-page abstract (no more, no less, no tables or graphs, a few key references are allowed on page two) before the deadline of October 30, 2014 (Twelve noon, your local time) through the conference website www.druid.dk/academy2015/. All information is to be copied into the text box at the submission site. No file can be uploaded. Please create a DRUID account if you have not attended a DRUID conference before to make the submission.
The abstract should start with the title of your submission, followed by your name, affiliation, year of enrolment, expected final date, and e-mail address. This information is to come before the body of the abstract, which should be written in plain text (that is, without bullet-points or other special codes).
The abstract should focus on your own contribution, not on what the existing literature has said. A few lines reviewing the existing literature are helpful, but only to position your contribution in the context of that literature. The abstract should mirror the full paper and include headings for the following points: 1) briefly describe the existing state-of-the-art; 2) explain the research gap that you are trying to fill; 3) give your main theoretical arguments; 4) spell out your method (and data, if an empirical paper); and 5) present your results. Submission of an abstract gives the organizers permission to disseminate it and the accompanying paper electronically or place it on the conference website. We reserve the right to reject abstracts, which do not comply with the above requirements.
Each participant will be charged a fee of Euro 430. The fee and the DRUID Academy will cover the expenses during the conference regarding accommodation and meals from Wednesday January 21 after lunch until Friday January 23, lunch included. Students enrolled in a PhD program with limited resources can apply for one of the few reduced fee options available by sending an e-mail with information on why you need support to firstname.lastname@example.org when you submit your abstract. Local co-finance would be needed in all cases.
